Camera- The Lakes

The camera shots in this clip represent the class of the boy. We can see that by the various shot types used. The ones used show the young adult as a very low class.

At the beginning of the clip, the camera work is going around in 360 degrees. This shows that the boy is very confused and unstable, dreaming about something strange. This shows the class of the boy as it shows the boy as disorientated. This can be known as an ideology of young adults, as they do not know what they yet want to do with their life.
The shot looking directly down on him as he is naked in his bed shows that he does not have much authority, maybe in his house hold. Again a low angle shot is used when he is fixing his hair shouting to his mother. This again shows that he hasn't gt much power against his mother.

The close-ups of his hands, his mouth and the cigarette show that he is very impatient as the change very rapidly. The close-ups show that the young adult hasn't got better things to do as the shots emphasis that he is in a betting shop, spending all his money. This shows that he is below working class, as it shows him losing each time he bets then wastes all his money. It then goes to him on a bus, where the ticket inspector comes and throws him off as he has blown all his money, he can't even buy a bus ticket.

The extremely long shot of him by a river shows the area which he lives around. It looks very run down and dirty. Showing that his parents are proberly working class, as they can't afford to live in a nice area.

It then ends with a low angle again. This again shows that the young adult is discovering his life, and so is a low class.

Freak!

In the first episode of freak it shows the girl who is dressed like a boy, taking off her clothes and giving it to her step-brother. The girl is something of being mixed-race and the boys ethnicity is white. Here we can obviously see as the audience that they are not related.

The stereotype of the mixed race ethnicity is that they they may be weird to other ethnicity's as they are mixed race. stereotypes of this ethnicity is that they maybe quite and shy, or either loud and quite confident. The type that is represented in this clip is that the girl is very quite and shy, a girl that keeps her self to her self. Another stereotype is that maybe an outcast to the white ethnicity. See can be seen by the way that step brother and the other white man in the cinema screening with her. Her step-brother sees her a 'freak' as like likes to dress and look like a boy. This can be portrayed as another stereotype of this ethnicity, showing that they may weird.
At the end of this episode the girl beats all the boys on an online computer game. The boys think that she is a boy, and so let her play. she then beats them all, after seeing that she is a girl and a different in ethnicity they classify her as a freak.
This episode shows the difference between the two ethnicity's. It shows the white ethnicity, as loud and fun, all about partying. This is seen when all white people are around a pool drinking and talking. Whilst the mixed-race girl is in the cinema watching what seems to be a documentary film. The girl was not invited to this party, showing that it maybe due to her ethnicity. Again this is another stereotype, as not all mixed-race people are like this, and so are exaggerating her role.

An archtype of the mixed-race girl is that they genrally get more experience of nature. this is known as they come from a bigger and less developed in industry country. this means they have more fields, which they can experience. Again this ethnicity contrasts with the white ethnicity, showing that the boy hasn't had experience of nature, and is used to playing online computer games.

In these clips it shows this ethnicity as being negative, it portrays the girl, as a 'freak' as she is dressed like a boy and acts like a boy. This is also a negative as not all mixed-race ethnicity's are like this and so, only represents a small majority.

Editing- Cold Feet

The representation of gender in this clip of Cold Feet, is very stereotypical. Women are portrayed as 'loved-up' and men are portrayed as lazy and manly.

The first cut that was used in the clip 'Cold Feet was a cutaway. This kind of editing is very simple and basic. Which can represent men, as they're stereotypes are usually lazy and simple. Showing that this type of editing and stereotypes links in some way.

The next type of editing used with the shots was a cross cut. This is from the scene with the man in the bedroom to a scene in a kitchen with a different family. At this point there is also a long take. This holds the audiences attention. Showing them what is going to take place next. We see by this take, that the male becomes aggravated after reading the letter. Taking his anger out in his wife and the nanny. Again showing the stereotypes of men, that they are short tempered.

A transition is used on the train. This transition is a dissolve. This shows the difference between the woman and man who had fallen asleep on her shoulder on the train, figgiting around making her very uncomfortable, to the man and women outside a house smiling and laughing together. Showing that both females and males react in very different ways.

A wipe is also used. This shows timing passing, from standing outside the house to going into the house exploring.

Another dissolve is used, this shows the daydream which the woman was having.
This shows that woman are usually known to have romantic visions. The dissolve allows the audience to enter the womens daydream. This dissolve is soft and smooth, again representing how mos women usually are/act. However, this contrasts with the jump cut that is used to see the mans daydream. Showing that men are rough and rugged. The daydream shows men as only being interested in entertainment, pool. Sex, the women wearing skimpy clothes and drinking, having beer handed to them.

Representation of Age

Skins

The representation of the clip skins is on age. This can mainly be seen by the way they look and the way the audience see them. The use of Mise-en-scene in this clip is used a lot in various ways. The clip is based on the morning after of a teenage house party.

The colour design can be seen throughout the clip, which helps represent the age. The first scene shows various colours. This is where girl Cassie is getting up, and putting on her clothes. All the colours visible are bright and vibrant. This shows the lively hood of the young generation. There is no main colour, there are all varied, mixed. This could mean that the young generation/ teenager’s life is very muddled or frantic. By this we can see that their lives are maybe out of control. This represents her as a typical teenager, as this is when they begin to discover things. Going to parties, getting drunk and waking up the next morning feeling the pain.

The lighting used is ambient, this creates atmosphere and gives the audience a sense of verisimilitude. This is shown, at the end when Cassie leaves the house, and meets Michelle’s parents in the front, there was a lot of atmosphere here. This was due to the lighting. Because the lighting changed, it showed that the life that was in the house was superficial and there is a big difference between that and the life outside the house. It shows the contrast between real life, and the ‘party life’. Again this represents age, as teenagers, don’t really know what real life, and hard work is.

Cassie’s performance represents age very well. This can be seen when she wakes up from sleeping on the sofa, with a naked boy and her just in her underwear. This shows that teenagers don’t have any care in the world at the time which they wake up in. Cassie also represents teenagers, in the way that she is dressed. She is wearing a short dress, which is from the night before. The way that Cassie speaks also represents teenage girls. When Cassie is speaking to her friends, it’s informal. However, when she sees Michelle’s parents she changes her tone and her voice. She starts to speak more formal, and makes conversation with them. This represents teenage girls as they change when they see other parents. This is so that the parents see them as good and not for them real selves

Fantasy Film Making Part 2

Synergy
From my film making part one, my budget to start off with was £40,000,000. My remaining budget by the end of it is now, £21,190,000.

There is meant to be four product placements, one music, and one commercial, types of synergy. Me and my partner, Ebun only came up with two types of synergy to be used in our film.

The Synergy of product placement in my film will be of Roxy, swim wear. This will appeal to the audience because of the fact that young people wear swim suits that Roxy design, especially the females. And as my film is based at a young audience, it'll appeal to them.

Another product placement that is going to be in my film is, Yamaha Boats. This is going to be in my film, because of all the boats that are in the beginning scenes. This will appeal to my audience as my movie is mainly water/ sea based at the beginning and so, people who love boat riding, or enjoy boats is going to like the movie. Making it appeal to them.

Crew
The crew involved in the production of my film. There is a director, a production team, a editor, and special effects.

The director which i had chosen for my film was Steven Spielberg. I chose him because he has experience in making films, with aliens and a lot of special effects. So a film like mine, would be in his category. The films which he had director, which is why I chose him was War Of The Worlds. This movie has exceptional special effects, which I hope will be in mine. Steven Spielberg will cost me £7.5 million. The only negative thing about using Steven Spielberg is that the storyline of the film may get lost. As the special effects which he specialises in may over take it. It also may not appeal to the original target audience of teenagers

Production Team
The production team, I have chosen is a professional British production team. Costs £500,000. This is very cheap and does not have that many people. Which means that there is less chance of them getting in he way, and things getting very muddled up. As this is a British production team, it means that they have more experience, doing British films. The only negative thing is that, the fact of having a high professional director and special effects means that it may just be a bit too much for the small professional British production team to handle.

Special effects will be done by Hollywood professionals. This will cost £2,000,000. This will have a good impact on my film as good special effects will help increase the verisimilitude in my film. The only negative impact is that it is a bit expensive and too much special effects will decrease the verisimilitude and the audiences interests.

Professional British editor. Costs, £500,000. The negative and positive impact on my film for this is the same for the ones in having a professional British production team.

The total cost of my crew is- £10,500,000.

Equipment- New Technology

Camera- The camera that will be used is a Sony HDW-F900R. One of these will cost £60639.50. But to make my film I will need about, five. So overall, cameras will cost £303,197.50.

Tapes- The tapes that will be used is Sony HD DV Tape 63min x 1. One of these tapes cost £6.98. I will need around 200 of these. Which overall, in tapes will cost £1, 396.

Computer- The computer needed will have to be very high tech and compatible. So an Apple iMac, 27inch:2.66Hz will be used. One of these cost £1,599.00. To make my film I will need around three of these, which overall in computers will cost, £4,797.00.

Homework on Production

In 24 hour party people, there is use of synergy. This is allows independent companies to gain more finance via this. If the company is willing to give up apart of their film, to advertise a product. Their are three main types of synergy;
Commercial synergy,
Product placement,
Music.
In 24 hour party people, synergy was used a lot. A few examples of the synergy used was the Royal Mail van shown. This is product placement. Even though Royal Mail do not sell anything, it shows that they are used widely throughout Britain.
Another type of synergy that was used, was music. The song 24 Hour Party People is used throughout the film. The relates to the film and the title exactly. Making it a perfect song. This song was produced by Happy Mondays.
Another type of music synergy used was that the Sex Pistols were in the actual film. Near the beginning of the film, the sex pistols are playing as a band, advertising themselves and their music. The sex pistols are also mentioned throughout the film. Hollywood production companies use synergy as well, however not as much is used because it is not always needed, Hollywood companies have enough money, and so do not use it over the top.

For an independent film, the use of special effects is surprising. The use of special effects in the storyline of 24 Hour Party People, was very unusual. The special effects were used, when a spaceship appeared in daylight. In Hollywood companies, they use more special effects, and better quality. This is due to their equipment, and the fact that they can afford it. The special effects appeal to the audience, as it increases verisimilitude, and makes the film more interesting.
The editing used was very basic. Which is expected for an independent film. The difference within editing is wide, between a Hollywood film and an independent film.

New technology has effected the audience in the way that it interest them more.
With independent films they are less likely to use new meida, as it will save them money, allowing them to spend it on making their film. However, Hollywood production companies will make use of the money that they have, they will use the best inorder to insure that the audience enjoy the viewing of the film.

Overall i think that Hollywood production companies and independent production companies, do not have much in common. Both try to use New media, however this can only be used in independent companies up to an certain extent. There are mainly differences between the two films. This is due to the fact that Hollywood production comapnies have more money and so are able to experiment with different types of media convergence and new media technology.
